Improving the urban area and preservation, protection and sustainable capitalization of the cultural heritage through REGIO


The Managing Authority of the Regional Operational Program launched two new calls for proposals on Priority Axis 5 - Improving the urban area and preservation, protection and sustainable capitalization of the cultural heritage: Investment priority 5.1 - Preservation, protection, promotion and development of the natural and cultural heritage and Investment priority 5.2 - Implementing actions intended to improve the urban area, revitalize the cities, regenerate and decontaminate the brownfields (including the reconversion areas), reduce air pollution and promote measures for noise reduction.

Investment priority 5.1 - “Preservation, protection, promotion and development of the natural and cultural heritage” has as specific objective stimulating local development through the preservation, protection and capitalization of the cultural heritage and cultural identity. This investment priority shall fund the restoration, protection, preservation and sustainable capitalization of the UNESCO heritage objective, national cultural heritage (regardless of its location, urban or rural) and local cultural heritage from the urban area. Funding can also be provided to administrative and territorial divisions, central public authorities, religious institutions, NGOs. Partnerships between these entities, respectively the administrative and territorial division in its capacity as leader together with another administrative and territorial division, with a central public authority, religious institution or NGO; or a central public authority, in its capacity as leader, together with an administrative and territorial division, religious unit or NGO.

Investment priority 5.2 - “Implementing actions intended to improve the urban area, revitalize the cities, regenerate and decontaminate the brownfields (including the reconversion areas), reduce air pollution and promoting measures for noise reduction” aims to restructure and retrofit the degraded, vacant or unutilized lands and surfaces from the small and medium cities and from the Municipality of Bucharest. The beneficiaries of this investment priority shall be the administrative and territorial divisions, as well as the districts of the Municipality of Bucharest, defined in accordance with the Law on local public administration no. 215/2001, subsequently amended and supplemented, established in accordance with Law no. 2/1968 on the administrative organization of Romania, republished, except for the county seats, funded within the priority axis dedicated to urban development and partnerships between the administrative and territorial divisions above mentioned and county ATD, and the urban administrative and territorial division is the partnership leader.
