18 March 2020 How to include « culture » dimensions in the EU-SPI ?
The fourth virtual peer learning event focusing on “How to include « culture » dimensions in the EU-SPI ?” took place on the 18th of March at 14:00 CET. The workshop was organised in the frame of the series of peer learning events as part of the activities of the EU SPI Pilot project, and aimed to allow remote participation for as many of the core members and associated regions of the project.
During the session the main presentation focused on
- · Understanding the notion of culture
- · Main interactions and intersections between culture and social progress
- · The interrelation between culture and SPI
- conceptualisation of the linkages between culture and social progress
- measuring culture in well being scoreboards.
- Future steps and questions
Representatives of Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Development Agency prepared and delivered a speech on how culture can influence the social progress.

Bucharest-Ilfov is one of the ten regions subject of the pilot-project "Measuring what Matters to EU Citizens: Social Progress in the European regions", launched by the European Commission, in order to encourage regions to empirically test how the EU Social Progress Index (EU SPI) could be used to improve policy-making, in particular for policies supported by cohesion policy. The aim is for the pilot to serve as a guide for European regions in using the EU-SPI but also to gather recommendations on how to improve the next editions of the index
