9 October 2019 - Measuring social progress in European regions and cities
ADRBI, together with the Permanent Representation of Slovenia to the EU, the Council of the Western Region of Greece, the Council of the Västerbotten Region of Sweden is organizing a workshop on "Measuring social progress in European regions and cities" during the European Week of Regions and Cities. It will take place at the headquarters of the Permanent Representation of Slovenia in Brussels, on October 9, 2019, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
The overall aim of the workshop is to generate new knowledge through the application of indicator frameworks, which measure human well-being and social progress at international, European and regional level. Different stakeholders (policymakers, researchers, etc.) of and beyond the "EU-SPI Project - Pilot Project on the Social Progress Index" (EU-SPI) will share the experiences they have had during the testing of the "EU Social Progress Indicator" and other indicators (e.g. the Regional Well-being Index of the OECD) in different European cities and regions.
The workshop will mainly focus on the presentation and discussion of the results of the EU-SPI case studies which were conducted in the regions of the involved partners: Eastern Slovenia, Western Greece, Bucharest-Ilfov and Umeå/Västerbotten.
The EU-SPI case studies aimed at:
- collecting evidence of the usefulness of the EU-SPI for regional policymaking in the field of social progress,
- identifying suggestions for improving the next edition of the index
